Role of the engineers in society
For a long time, people are valuable and prestigious parts of society who have to also have a responsibility, find a creative solution and have enterprise apart from inventing, designing, analyzing, and building machines, systems, and structures in order to fulfill unbounded desires by limited resources are called an engineer. Solving the pressing problem in a short period of time is extremely important for society. And the engineers are responsible for rising problems related to systems in the field of architecture, construction, mining, production, economy, military, electricity, and power, etc. Every single practical invention is invented by them.
My first meeting with an engineer was in a computer game named Red Alert 2 (RA2) in which the engineers repair bridges and buildings, redesign rivals’ constructions and factories to make them usable for us, as well as possess oil well. The interesting point of the engineer in the game is that he always brings the briefcase and wears a yellow helmet all the time. The first imagination and impression on the engineer were not limited by only the game. Both my grandfather, my father, and his brothers are self-employed as a mechanical engineer, accordingly, I spend time in a small mechanical workshop when I was a child. Their works seemed hard, even though the situation affected me to select to live an engineer’s life.
When I had to choose my future profession, I found myself stuck in ways of jobs that they were completely different from each other such as a doctor, a theoretical mathematician, and an IT engineer. I made these options based on my interests and subjects that I was good at in secondary school. I was truly keen on all the careers that I came up with, thus I had to find an occupation that contains all the attributes and characteristics of the aforementioned jobs. After that research capitally, I recognize that engineering could satisfy my requirements based on online and relatives’ advice. By that time, I still did not know which field of engineering I would be in part of it.
There are forests, fish, animals, and a variety of minerals in Mongolia. Especially, the country’s richest resources are minerals, such as copper, coal, rare and precious metals, fluorite, phosphates, and building materials. Unfortunately, it makes a lot of pollution during the extractive process because of the imperfect method. There are a few universities where the lecturer teaches raw material process. Without experts, we cannot invent or develop any ideas creatively for a brief period moment in both effective and efficient ways. I noticed that the need for Mongolia of an engineer is associated with mining was extremely higher than my expectation. Process engineers use the knowledge of natural science and main engineering skills in their ordinary work. The raw material process engineering perfectly meets my whole expectance.
On the other hand, engineers have such a strong power that their operation could lead to huge disasters on both the environment and society unless their main objective is to serve for maintaining public convenience. For instance, it was inspected that some gold mining companies pour their waste rejects into a river in Mongolia. Inhabitants around the mining site used to use water of the river as a drinking water. Because of the only reject system fault, the denizens had to face diseases; suffering from chemical toxic elements in their body and environment. It was an unfortunate case, but it would be more unfortunate if we did not moralize from the case.
In conclusion, engineering is the best way to develop the current condition by applying theoretical knowledge and practical experience on a system as well as observe and analyze real-time data. Moreover, the engineer is a person who has a great power that can be used in both ways, particularly, positive results or negative consequences depending on their responsibilities.
