My personality 🤓
Hello everyone. Due to the personal reasons, I have taken a break. Now I am back with my personal essays.
As you can see, this writing is the first of them.
In these writings, I will try my best to cover three main points such as reason, theories and definition, as well as my thoughts on the topic.
In addition to the keynotes, I will make a huge effort to keep it as simple as possible. Sometimes it might seem to incorrectly use paragraphing.
Why am I concerned about personality?
When I had an internship interview, I was asked what kind of person I was. I did not have any experience with the question and I asked for some clarification.
Because I had thought that personality was shown during cooperation and defining my personality by myself at the beginning of the discussion made no sense.
Although I came up with some phrases that could describe me in that case, those words seemed to me like some common fake self compliments by the time. Consequently, I have blown an internship interview. After the meeting, I started to study human personalities so I can finish another interview with more success.
What exactly is that personality?
A personality was defined as “dynamic organization inside a person, systems that create the characteristic pattern” by Gordon W. Allport. In simpler words, a personality is a combination of what we think, what we feel, and our actions.
It sometimes changes due to biological and social pressures. So our parents, colleagues, and environment affect the way our personality forms.
However, our personality shows consistent behavior at different times and in different situations.
There are five main personality traits such as openness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, agreeableness, and extraversion which indicates:
- a degree of intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a preference for novelty,
- a tendency to be organized and dependable,
- a predisposition to psychological stress
- a measure of one’s trusting and helpful nature
- a tendency to seek the company of others and talk
Who am I?
In many ways, I frequently ask this question from myself.
Somehow, I found a variety of answers each time.
When I asked the question, I became another person compared with the past time.
Different personalities remind me of one quote which says:
Time is like a river. You cannot touch the same water twice because the flow that has passed will never pass again.
I was a boy who wants to spend a full day at the playground. I was a teenager who loved to collect eccentric glasses without any purpose. Now I am a student who carries stepping stones to build my way.
Every factor influences me to form a temporary person at an instant time. I have been being changed; flowing through all the mountains and gaining beneficial things since I was born.
After a long discussion with myself, I understood that I keep a few core values with me including creativity, passion, growth, pessimism, etc.
The continuous impact of those characteristics leads to a physical and mental better person. In my experience, these personality traits help me to be myself and to grow as I want. So those are important factors of defining myself.
To summarize, knowing ourselves is definitely a key to success. We can be described as what we value the most apart from what we have been doing.
